Animax Carnival 2012. You Certainly Won’t Want to Miss This!
Something to look forward to next week as Animax will debut it’s first ever Animax Carnival right here in Malaysia! A lot of activities have been planned by Animax for the fans, and also fans would be able to meet the famous cosplayer and also Animax’s Animate, Alodia!

Astro customers, ONECARD holders and all fans of anime are in for a treat as Animax (Astro Ch 715), Asia’s first and leading channel serving up anime for everyone is set to debut its first ever Animax Carnival! Held from 10 – 11 March at top shopping destination 1Utama Shopping Centre, the Animax Carnival 2012 weekend event will be graced by regional celebrity cosplayer and Animax Ani-Mate TV personality, Alodia Gosiengfiao.
Starting 10 March at 12pm in the new wing of the 1Utama premier lifestyle and entertainment mecca at The Oval, Animax Carnival 2012 is set to serve up a whole weekend of fun for the family with goodies to enjoy for Astro customers, especially to reward Astro Variety Pack subscribers, ONECARD holders and all visitors to 1Utama.
Headlining Day One of Animax Carnival 2012 is Animax’s exciting cosplay contest that will bring together some of the most colourful local cosplayers. Cosplay contestants will have to be at their very best in putting together and donning the costumes of their favourite anime, manga or videogame characters and perform in-character to compete for cash and prizes worth over US$1,000 in total. Participants will have to win over one of Asia’s top cosplayers and Animax Ani-Mate TV presenter, Alodia Gosiengfiao, who is judging the competition alongside local cosplayer Ayase.

In addition to judging, Alodia is in Kuala Lumpur to meet the local cosplay community and fans, along with the Malaysian media for the first time. “There are many anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture lovers in Malaysia, and the cosplay community in Kuala Lumpur is very vibrant. I am proud to be judging the inaugural Animax Carnival 2012 Cosplay Contest and look forward to great cosplay performances by the many local enthusiasts,” shared Alodia. Lucky attendees stand to get up close and personal with the celebrity cosplayer.
Beyond the cosplay contest, visitors to Animax Carnival 2012 can participate in a variety of carnival and stage games. A return to traditional carnival games, these include fishing balls out of water, tossing beanbags and rings as well as clearing cans off a platform in throws, with prizes to be won. Participants who complete all carnival games can get their ‘Game Card’ fully stamped to win more prizes.
Stage games will be spectacular as lucky attendees and their families or friends will be pit against other teams in challenges that celebrate the anime series loved by Animax viewers. Inspired by new action series premiering in April, Hunter X Hunter tests the speed and memory of participants; Fairy Tail (Mon – Fri, 7.30pm) offers a test of teamwork to fill containers with water. Naruto (Mon – Fri, 4.30pm) challenges each group to hit a moving target; Little Battlers eXperience (premiering 20 Mar, Mon – Fri, 5.30pm) sees a blindfolded member directed by the team to burst balloons; while Beelzebub (Sun, 2.30pm) has teams filling milk bottle with water guns.
A life-size mascot of the iconic ‘Baby Beel’ character from Beelzebub will pose for pictures with attendees at Animax Carnival. Leading video games and toys manufacturer Namco Bandai will exhibit its collection of Little Battler eXperience robot figurines for fans and photography enthusiasts. Top consumer electronics manufacturer Sony will have multiple PlayStation 3 game consoles with games including ‘Final Fantasy XIII-2’, ‘GT5 Spec-II’, ‘Tekken Hybrid’, ‘Unchartered 3’, ‘Little Big Planet 2’, and ‘Punch Time Explosion’ to offer video gaming fun
Attendees can also try body art painting and express themselves on the graffiti wall, while children have fun at Animax’s ‘Ani-Chan’ kid’s corner. In addition, free candy floss, balloons and other goodies will be given out throughout the event.
Day One on 10 March from 12 – 6pm, Animax Carnival is open only to Astro customers, with the first 50 Variety Pack subscribers registered each day at www.astro.com.my/astrolife from 25 Feb – 5 Mar receiving a mystery gift. Astro customers have to bring their January 2012 bill to redeem four event tickets each. On Day Two, 11 March from 12 – 3pm, Animax Carnival is also open to ONECARD holders who have to present their card to redeem four tickets each; and from 3pm onwards, the event is open to the public.
