Super GT Round 3 Officially Announced
After the success of the 2011 Super GT in Malaysia, it’s no wonder that the organisers, JPM Motorsports was keen to bring the most fastest GT spec car race in the world back to the Sepang International Circuit. And that’s what racing fans can look forward to this 9th and 10th of June as JPM Motorsports aims to outdo itself with the 2012 Super GT Round 3 at Sepang. We were at Pavilion, KLCC to hear more about this.
Last year’s race at Sepang was the first time that a private organiser has organised this popular racing series in Malaysia and it was proven to be the correct choice as it was voted as the best organised race among all of the Super GT race last year. Thus it’s no surprise that JPM are looking forward to this year’s race as well
Targeting 50,000 fans per day this year, JPM Motorsport’s founder Mr JP Chin is bullish that it would be much larger and better than the one in 2011. And due to this a lot more spectacles will be provided to the fans, including car motorshow that includes names such as Honda, Sime Darby Motor, Naza World, UMW Toyota, Mazda and also parts manufacturers like Motul and Yokohama. Japanese popular electronic and gadget location, Akihabara or more popularly known as Akiba will be “brought” to Sepang in the guise of “Akiba Town” an electronic bazaar of sort. Not only that, Sony will also be holding the finals of the Gran Turismo 5 Asia Online Tournament 2012 – SUPER GT Cup at Sepang on the same weekend.
Also there was Maasaki Bandou-san, the President of Japan GT Association who announced that around 40 different teams from the Super GT and the GT300 class will be at Sepang to fight it out under the harsh tropical weather. He also
announced that the 2012 series will be designated as special Great East Japan Earthquake recovery support events under the slogan, “Nihon wo Genki ni”(Strength for Japan). This
year’s Malaysia round has also been designated a “30th anniversary of Look East Policy event” that was introduced by the former Prime Minister, Dr Mahathir bin Mohammad.
With the introduction of more European manufacturers in GT300 like Mercedes (with the SLS AMG), Audi (R8 LMS) and also the new launched Subaru BRZ, fans would certainly can look forward to a fast and furious race at Sepang.
Ticket for this race cost RM100. So what are you guys waiting for?
