If you are a fan of Japanese culture and a frequent visitor to Malaysian ACG events, then you would be happy to know that Animagaki 2012 will be coming your this August, promising lots of fun filled activities for you! And what kinds of activities you might ask? Well read on and see

Since 2009, Animangaki which has been organised by the Sunway University Anime Club (S-UAC) has always been a closed event. But high attendances for the past few years has

influenced the committee, with the help of JDream Corporation, to change the event as a commercial and public event starting this year. And for this, they have changed the venue from Sunway University to the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre. For 2012 the event will have a Japanese high school theme. A large 7 metre tall stage will be erected at the front, where most of the activities and performance will be held

A whole lot

of activities are planned for the event. This includes a meido kissa, something of a normality at any ACG event now after it was popularised by a particular large Singapore ACG event and has taken Malaysian events by storm.

Not satisfied with having a cute girl in a maid costume serving you food? Then you can also join in the various contests that is planned for that weekend. This include the tried and tested Cosplay Competition where cosplayers decked in cool and awesome anime inspired costumes will battle it out to find who is the most creative of them all. Also there would be a karaoke competition, something for the inspiring singer to look forward to, cosplay photography contest, a new category that actually we ourselves are curious to see, and also digital art contest.

There will be also music performances on stage, and if you feel quite “Japanesesy” that day, you could also try out a Japanese Yukata and have your picture taken. In lieu of the Japan theme, there is also a purikura booth, where not only have your picture taken, but edit the picture itself with doodles, a hipster instagram of sort. There will also be a game centre, most likely having Japanese traditional games for you to have fun with

With the numbers of visitors rising steadily over the year, this year’s Animangaki can easily be it’s largest ever yet. Cosplayers, photographers, heck, just a normal anime fan, everyone should easily fit right in. So why not come and join in the fun as well?

Animangaki 2012 will be held on the 25th and 26th of August 2012 (a week after Hari Raya Puasa) at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre. For more information you can visit their website or facebook page
